3 Ways To Summerize Your Vehicle

It is summer, which means it is time to get out on the roads for warm weather adventures. Whether it is a weekend getaway or multi-week road trip, your car will undoubtedly be the most important thing your take on your journey, and it is important to make sure that your vehicle is prepared for the demands of the summer heat.

At Ancira Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we want everyone to have a safe summer exploring our town, our state or our nation, so we have made a list of 3 easy ways to get your car ready for summer. Check out our list below then get out on the road!

Keep Your Car Cool: Important during the entire year, your car’s cooling system is put to the test during the summer, combating the heat that your car produces as well as the rising air temperatures. Keeping your vehicle properly cooled helps with fuel efficiency, prevents corrosion as well as keeping your engine from being permanently damaged.

Keep Yourself Cool: While not necessary for the car to run, a well-maintained air conditioning system will keep you sane when the temperature reaches triple digits. When in sunlight with the windows rolled up, the interior temperature of the car can rise as much as 40 degrees above the outside temp, creating an unbearable and potentially deadly environment. Cooling your car to a reasonable temperature with a properly working system is already taxing on the A/C, and a system that is just getting by will inevitably fail. Beat the heat and keep cool with a properly working air conditioning system.

Check Your Brakes: You may hope that your trip does not take many stops to get to your destination; working breaks are critical for your safety as well as the safety of others when on the road. During the summer, hot weather can increase the temperature of your brake system, increasing the speed of brake wear. Worn brake pads can spell trouble, so be sure to have them checked before embarking on a big trip.

If your car needs some maintenance before hitting the open road, stop by and let us help. With a fantastic service department, we would be happy to make sure your car is up to par before you go. Call us at (888) 992-3393 or fill out our online form to schedule an appointment.

2016 Ram 1500 or 2500: Which is For You?

RAM 1500vs.RAM 2500

We understand how serious Texans are about their trucks. They make all the difference in our daily lives because they determine what all we can do. Work, play, et cetera… these areas of your lifestyle should be considered when shopping for a new pickup truck. There are many specifications to address for your specific needs, so which Ram truck best suits you?

All Ram trucks provide amazing performance, convenience, and a comfortable cabin, but today, we’ll focus on the RAM 1500 and 2500.

RAM 1500

Even base model RAM 1500 Tradesman breaks the common misconception that the 1500 is a “half-ton” truck, as it has a max payload of 1,880 pounds and a max towing capacity of 10,640 pounds…More than enough to get the job done!

The Ram 1500 is offered in a choice of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, 5.7-liter HEMI V8, and the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, offering an impressive buffet of performance and fuel economy.

RAM 2500

Equally misleading truck qualifications like “three-quarter-ton” and “one-ton” also don’t apply to the RAM 2500, because HD trucks like the RAM 2500 and 3500 offer much greater capabilities than the suggestion of these terms. The RAM Tradesman 2500 has a max payload of 3,990 pounds and a max towing capacity of 17,980 pounds.

Compared to the RAM 1500, the HD RAM 2500 is available with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 VVT, 6.4-liter HEMI V8, and the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. If you plan to tow much heavier loads, spring for RAM towing packages that are meant to deliver longer dependability and a heartier capability.

The most important thing to consider when choosing between the 2016 RAM 1500 and the 2016 RAM 2500 is the weights you plan to haul. A larger boat or a heavy-duty construction trailer, or big camper trailer will most likely demand a RAM 2500.

To be sure, feel free to call us or stop by to have any and all of your RAM truck questions answered. We would love the opportunity to serve you!

  1. Sam’s Burger Joint – Midtown – 330 E. Grayson Street

For one of the most flavor packed burgers in town, make your way over to Sam’s Burger Joint. A favorite there is the bean burger, complete with avocado slices and green chilis. Make sure to order their famous onion rings too! Something that makes the experience even better is that Sam’s provides an unforgettably laid-back atmosphere and its music lineup.

2.) Chris Madrid’s – Beacon Hill – 1900 Blanco Road

Oh wow. If you love cheddar cheese, Chris Madrid’s is your place. The go-to orders at this place is the Cheddar Cheesy and the Tostado Bean Burger (similar to a Frito pie on a bun.) You won’t find friendlier service than at Chris Madrid’s

3.) Cheesy Jane’s – uptown Broadway – 4200 Broadway Street

A must when dining at Cheesy Jane’s for the first time is ordering the restaurant’s namesake burger…a half-pound of ground chuck with double the cheddar, but the menu is much more expansive than this. Favorite’s at this burger hub include the Wurst burger with Kiolbassa sausage, the Porky burger with canadian bacon. Make sure to wash that down with one of Cheery Jane’s huge milkshakes or malts.

4.) Longhorn Cafe – Far North Central – 17625 W Blanco Road

You may want to check your cholesterol after eating at Longhorn Cafe, but man is it worth is for their big, messy, and delicious portions. Their Angus burger, onion rings, tater tots, and fried pickles are to die for.

5.) Chester’s Hamburger Co. – Northwest Side – 9980 W Interstate 10
When it comes to burgers, messy and spicy is usually best! And that’s definitely the case at Chester’s Hamburger Company, where their chile cheeseburger and green chile cheeseburgers rule. Chester’s old school eclectic decor take this place on a stroll down nostalgia lane.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk

We first heard about Jeep’s “Trailhawk” name with the recently redesigned generation of the Jeep Cherokee. Then it was available on the Jeep Renegade, and now the Jeep Grand Cherokee! Doesn’t it look good?!

As “the most capable factory-produced Grand Cherokee ever,” this Jeep offers a more unique and rugged appearance, with many added functional features that increase off-road 4×4 capability.

We really like this SUV!

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models are equipped with a long list of standard off-road capability features including:

  • Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 System
  • A specially modified version of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension
    • Provides improved articulation and total suspension travel
  • Electronic Limited Slip Differential – ELSD – for all powertrains
  • Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control
  • Skid plates
  • Trailhawk specific anti-glare hood decal

The exterior of Trailhawk Jeep Grand Cherokee shares the same front fascia and seven-slot Jeep grille that debuted on the 75th Anniversary edition Grand Cherokee, Trailhawk-signature red tow hooks in the rear and front, standard 18-inch (or optional 20-inch) Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement, brand new Trail Rated/Trailhawk badges, and a roof rack with grey accents or optional Mopar rock rails.

Available exterior paint colors for the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk are Redline Red, Billet Silver, Bright White, Rhino, Granite Crystal, Velvet Red, and Diamond Black.

Slip inside the Trailhawk Grand Cherokee to enjoy a luxurious driving experience. Grand Cherokee Trailhawk models feature a unique black interior with leather and suede performance and comfort focused seats with red accent stitching, brushed Piano Black accents, gun-metal finish for all painted interior features, and a Trailhawk badge on the steering wheel.

We can’t forget to mention the additional red accent stitching on  the doors and console. The Trailhawk Grand Cherokee’s standard 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen includes updated off-road pages that show wheel articulation, as well as more 4×4 capability, like Selec-Terrain modes and suspension height.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be available later this summer and will be the sixth model for the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup, including Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, and SRT.

We can’t wait!

SUV or Minivan…Which is for You?

SUV or Minivan...Which is for you-

If you’re looking for a new vehicle suitable for your whole family, you’ve probably considered purchasing a minivan or SUV. Both are extremely appealing, as they each offer many different qualities. We understand how difficult it can be deciding on your next vehicle purchase, so we’ve compiled a detailed list, outlining the general characteristics of SUVs and minivans.

Hopefully, if you’re stuck between buying a minivan or SUV, this will help make it clear which is better suited for your lifestyle!

Let’s start with the benefits of owning a minivan:

At Ancira CJDR, we currently have two minivan models to choose from: the Chrysler Town & Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan. Sometime in the near future, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan will be on our lot as well.

Click here to check out our inventory of 2016 Chrysler and Dodge minivans!

If minivans were to be described in one word, it would be, “practical.” Probably the most commonly praised characteristic of minivans is its low ground clearance, which makes them extremely easy to get in and out of. This includes a smooth trip to the third row.

The sliding doors of minivans are extremely helpful and efficient, compared to traditional doors. Sliding doors guarantee that your little ones can’t ding the doors of vehicles parked parallel to your minivan.

We can’t forget to mention that most minivans offer fold-flat seating, a standard third row, and child-friendly features for convenience like tri-zone climate control, cupholders and cubbies, as well as rear-seat entertainment.

When it comes to performance and efficiency, minivans tend to achieve better gas mileage than their similarly-sized SUV counterparts. This is due to the car-like chassis and engine of minivans.

The only setback you may see in minivans is the idea of yourself driving a minivan. Some people don’t want the “soccer mom” image that some believe comes with driving a van. If that’s the case with you and your family, check out the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, an innovative and sporty minivan coming to our lot later this year!

One of the most important benefits of driving an SUV is performance and capability. SUVs offer a higher ground clearance, a larger engine, and offer all-wheel or 4-wheel-drive. For families that need to “go-anywhere,” an SUV like the 2016 Dodge Journey or Dodge Durango might be the smarter choice.

Click here to view our inventory of 2016 Dodge Journey SUVs!

Although SUVs can be a little more expensive than minivans, they tend to have a sportier styling and more “get-up.” Also, there are far more SUV choices on the market than minivans.

When compared to minivans, SUVs have the drawback that they aren’t quite as easy for loading up kids and their “stuff.”

Choosing the next vehicle for you and your family is a BIG decision. We hope that this has helped you weigh the options between owning a minivan or SUV!

Jeep | 75 Years of History

“Adventure is a part of the DNA of every Jeep Brand vehicle ever built and as long as curiosity drives man to explore the edges of heaven and earth, the Jeep Brand will continue to inspire him to go beyond.” – Mike Manley, President and CEO of Jeep Brand

100% unique. Full of character and capability. All-American SUV. Much more could be said about Jeep vehicles to honor the 75th year of Jeep production, but we figured this was a good start!

In the year 1941, the original Jeep known as “Willys MB Jeeps,” went into production for the specific purpose of military use, becoming the primary light-weight 4WD vehicle, or “light reconnaissance vehicle, for the United States Army and our allies during World War II.

The first models available for civilians weren’t available until 1945, and are credited for inspiring many other SUVs.

We are so thankful that Jeeps were made available for everyone, as we cannot imagine the modern car industry without these one-of-a-kind SUVs!

75th Anniversary Edition Jeeps

To honor and celebrate the 75 great years that Jeep SUVs have been in production, Jeep Brand has put out 75th Anniversary editions of each Jeep vehicle made. The Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited “share DNA with the original Willys MB and the embodiment of Freedom, Adventure, Passion, and Authenticity today.”

75th Anniversary Edition Jeeps feature the unique “Jeep Green” exterior, nostalgic of Jeep military service, Satin Bronze wheels, and Bronze and Orange exterior accents. Don’t miss the 75th Anniversary badging!

Anniversary edition Jeeps are nothing short of special, with a long list of unique features like:

  • 17-inch wheels
  • Low Gloss Bronze grille throats, headlamp rings, and wheels
  • Body-color grille
  • Power dome hood with functional air vents
  • Leather-trimmed heated seats with accent sport mesh inserts and accent stitching
  • 75th Anniversary grab handle
  • Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires
  • Off-road rock rails
  • 6.5-inch touchscreen radio with Uconnect and SiriusXM Satellite Radio

RAM Lineup|Popular Mechanics “Best Truck of 2016”

“Top to bottom, this is the model to beat.”

We at Ancira CJDR are aware of the level of excellence our vehicles provide, but we still get pretty excited when one of our cars, trucks, or SUVs gets the acknowledgement it deserves!

In its May issue that was released last week, Popular Mechanics named the 2016 RAM truck lineup “Best Truck of 2016!”

Mike Manley, Head of Ram Truck Brand for FCA Gloval said, “The objective for Ram is to build the best trucks in the market, and earning a spot in Popular Mechanics’  Automotive Excellence Awards is recognition of rapid innovation and exclusive features across Ram’s entire pickup line…Ram is committed to leadership with best-in-class titles, including America’s most fuel-efficient full-size pickup at 29 mpg, most towing capacity at 31,210 pounds and the most torque at 900 lb.-ft.”

According to PM editors, the Ram is the only truck with a ZF-designed eight-speed automatic transmission, an aspect surprisingly  with Rolls-Royce and Range Rover vehicles. “That transmission can be bolted to a satisfying 305-horsepower V6, a beastly HEMI V8, or a 3.0-liter diesel, the only small diesel you can get in a full-size truck.”

PM credits Ram trucks with “the most ambitious suspension.” Ram 1500 and 2500 series trucks come standard with a coil-spring rear end that guarantees a smooth ride and ultimate control.

The industry’s only available air suspension is also available in HD Ram trucks. By simply pressing a button, it’s like your pickup has a lift-kit. This feature comes in handy in many circumstances like off-roading, unloading the bed, and improved fuel economy as is drops closer to pavement at highway speeds.

When it comes to the macho side of performance, Ram trucks brag the most torque, 900 lb-ft from a Cummins diesel Ram, and the most powerful gas engine from the 410-horsepower-producing 6.4-liter HEMI.
