May is National Hamburger Month, and while America or even Texas can’t claim that they made the first hamburger in history, we’re sure that San Antonio is home to some of the absolute juiciest, most scrumptious, mouth-watering masterpieces of hamburgers!
We decided that if hamburgers get a whole month dedicated to its name, we better celebrate accordingly… We’ve compiled a list of San Antonio’s top spots to eat a hamburger(or two.) Enjoy! And get to salivating.
- Sam’s Burger Joint – Midtown – 330 E. Grayson Street
For one of the most flavor packed burgers in town, make your way over to Sam’s Burger Joint. A favorite there is the bean burger, complete with avocado slices and green chilis. Make sure to order their famous onion rings too! Something that makes the experience even better is that Sam’s provides an unforgettably laid-back atmosphere and its music lineup.
2.) Chris Madrid’s – Beacon Hill – 1900 Blanco Road
Oh wow. If you love cheddar cheese, Chris Madrid’s is your place. The go-to orders at this place is the Cheddar Cheesy and the Tostado Bean Burger (similar to a Frito pie on a bun.) You won’t find friendlier service than at Chris Madrid’s
3.) Cheesy Jane’s – uptown Broadway – 4200 Broadway Street
A must when dining at Cheesy Jane’s for the first time is ordering the restaurant’s namesake burger…a half-pound of ground chuck with double the cheddar, but the menu is much more expansive than this. Favorite’s at this burger hub include the Wurst burger with Kiolbassa sausage, the Porky burger with canadian bacon. Make sure to wash that down with one of Cheery Jane’s huge milkshakes or malts.
4.) Longhorn Cafe – Far North Central – 17625 W Blanco Road
You may want to check your cholesterol after eating at Longhorn Cafe, but man is it worth is for their big, messy, and delicious portions. Their Angus burger, onion rings, tater tots, and fried pickles are to die for.
5.) Chester’s Hamburger Co. – Northwest Side – 9980 W Interstate 10
When it comes to burgers, messy and spicy is usually best! And that’s definitely the case at Chester’s Hamburger Company, where their chile cheeseburger and green chile cheeseburgers rule. Chester’s old school eclectic decor take this place on a stroll down nostalgia lane.
